The Best Cook In The World

I've always thought my mother's the best cook in the world.

Her Otak-Otak.

Her Pork Rib Soups with Lotus Roots.

Steamed Red Snapper.

Pork Stew in Dark Soya.

My mother-in-law, a housewife, had dishes that she'd made, experimented with, adapted, created from scratch and basically memorised after years of feeding her children and husband, all of whom proclaim that she was the actual best cook in the world.

Of course, I would protest. In my heart. Her Otak-Otak was nice, but it came nowhere near my mother's. It was a family recipe, handed down by my grandmother and adapted by mom. And even though it was simple to make and required no real skill, my mom's Otak-Otak would be the one dish that I'd remember my mother's cooking by. And none could take it from her.

Thing is, my mom's cooking wasn't about just taste or skill (or the lack of which). It was the fact that she'd been a working mother, who teaches afternoon classes because she wanted the time to make sure the family always had home cooked meals everyday when we came back from school. Looking back, sure, the dishes we'd grown to love so much were really just mediocre. But it was whatever my mom could find the time to make.

It's been exactly two years since I have cooked, and that was when I was away in London with my bf currently the hubby . I've been cooking up little storms everyday then. They're simple dishes, just like mom's, but as I watch my hubby tuck heartily into each meal I'd spend my time and effort making each day, the realisation then was that I am making history as the person who none is ever going to measure up to in terms of home cooking as far as my hubby are concerned, settled on me like a warm blanket. Hopefully, I future when we move in to our new place and have a family of our own, this will apply too.

Not exactly one of my cita-citas (objectives in life), but man, it feels great to know I will be remembered that way.

Speaking Of Racism

It has begin to dawn on me each time I take a break in the office. There are all sorts of skin color and mother tongue spoken here. So call D & I, which stand for Diversity and Inclusiveness. But the majority in this department are Indians....!!!! and they speak rather loud not only on break times, outside the working area but also at one another's cubicle which gets to me. I'm really glad I'm leaving soon not because I’m racist but now it could be one of my reasons. We are the minority here especially in this department of mine now. Good riddance to bad rubbish one might say... lol .. Cheerio-lah!!!

Birthday

It was my 28^th birthday yesterday . On another note, what I don’t get is why people, when confronted on whether what they did caused grief to others, still refuses to apologize or admit the same? Why is it inherent in all of us, a defensive mechanism, which we all use it one way or another. Be it self-denial or lying through gritted teeth or whatever, we all are accountable for it. Now after much thought and mulling over issues which I personally felt it was dead, much like flogging a dead horse.

Influence

Dumbest Sentence For PMS Days

“No wonder guys entitle girls as BITCH when they throw tantrum for no reason. My ex-s whichever acted like this got a piece of my mind last time.” Aiiii…. Never did learn or do we girls got to change first. Maybe the latter… By the way, I agree doing the latter should help us girls loads too.

Anyway, since one has encountered this sort of torturous episodes one two many times in life, why is it that different girls yet one is still facing the same issue over and over again. Thus far retort to it the same way??? Wonder why people complained and on the contrary still remains with the union and nevertheless put up with this nonsense. (FREAKY FREAKY shit)

Signs when your chick is PMSsing.

1) Nothing you do or say is right and she seems like the most perverse person ever
2) Snaps at every god damn thing
3) Cries over something minor you say or do.

4) Feels insecure and unloved for no apparent reason

5) Tummy looks damn big coz bloated

6) Complains that her breasts are tender

Note: It’s just my sincere views. Nothing against guys being who they ARE nor do I think ill of them. Just ranting where I can do best without getting words thrown back in reverse. The funny thing is that of all days when I’m absolutely fine and on cloud 9, I have those sympathetic statements due to working in the wee hours, which is a good thing though, but I wish I could have that now!
